Email/Message:
Greetings,
At the beginning of this spring semester, I hope things are going well in your areas at Dallas College so far. Some of you may know me. I am Ami Stovall, and I am tasked with leading the initiative of the new Accessibility Technology Support Team/Department in late January 2020, just prior to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, I am in my third semester working towards my master’s degree in educational technology leadership at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
This semester, I am enrolled in ETEC-593, Strategic Planning for Technology Integration, which is a course where I will examine the process of developing and implementing a strategic plan for technology integration in academic settings, where my focus will be directed on developing a mission, vision, and priority goals for technology integration that align with Dallas College’s Strategic Initiatives including stating technology and readiness standards.
As part of my progress throughout this seven-week course, I would like to know if you all would be willing to guide me with advice and feedback during this process. Your input would be extremely helpful and much appreciated.
Thank you all for your time and consideration of this request. I look forward to hearing back from you all, either way.
Respectfully,
Ami Stovall
Reflection
The above discussion post was completed during my strategic planning for technology integration course. In this thread, we were completing the beginning phases of the strategic planning process by identifying who should contribute to this planning. For my project, I work for Dallas College in a newly formed area covering online accessibility. I was the original person included in this area within our district where my initial priority was to work with faculty and students to help them understand online accessibility and then help them to ensure all of their online documents and content are shared, published, or posted online was online ADA compliant. This assignment was important academically for my project, but also for me professionally to identify people in our newly restructured district of seven community college campuses and service centers for me to know who was directly connected with our area moving forward in the strategic planning process for my course, as well as me, for our large district that had just gone through a major reorganization at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic no less. I learned a lot from this assigned discussion post where we were also asked to draft an email that would be sent to these identified individuals to inform them that I will examine the process of developing and implementing a strategic plan for technology integration in academic settings.
