Web 2.0 Tools

Web 2.0 Tools

I used to think...
I used to think that Twitter, YouTube, and other software applications used were individual applications, and before the Web 2.0 tools course, I had never heard of Web 2.0 tools. As a result, I knew nothing about them other than how to use them for my projects for work and personal projects.

Now I think...
Now, upon completing the web 2.0 tool course that I am taking for my graduate studies, I have learned that Web 2.0 tools are websites and applications that use generated content for end users by users. In addition, web 2.0 tools are characterized by greater user interactivity and collaboration, more pervasive network connectivity, and enhanced communication channels.

Web 2.0 tools, like those we learned about in this course, Twitter, YouTube, HyperDocs, and Social Bookmarking sites like Diigo, can be used with curriculum content, store data, create/edit videos, edit photos, collaborate, and more in the process of facilitating teaching and learning. These programs are frequently free and are used by educators, students, and sometimes parents and guardians regularly in and out of the school rooms.
